About 642,700 medication abortions took place in the U.S. last year, according to the Guttmacher Institute.
Walgreens said it would start selling the pills in five states, including Pennsylvania, then roll them out to others.
Data found that a month before Roe v. Wade was overturned, requests for the medication went from 25 per day to 118 per day.
‘We have grave concerns about pending Supreme Court action on access to mifepristone, one of the most common drugs prescribed for medication abortion,’ said Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates Executive Director Signe Espinoza.
